About us

We are Open Bank, S.A., Netherlands Branch – also trading as Santander or Santander Consumer Finance. Santander Consumer Finance and Openbank are part of Santander’s global Digital Consumer Bank (DCB) business unit, which brings together all consumer finance activities. This enables us to continuously innovate and improve our services.

We have been active in the Netherlands since 1985. We support our partners – such as automotive manufacturers (OEMs), dealers and retailers, and in Belgium also retail partners – in strengthening their sales by offering financing solutions that contribute directly to their growth. In the Netherlands, we serve our customers from our office in Utrecht, and since 1992 in Belgium from our office in Merelbeke (near Ghent).

The leasing company Santander Leasing is also part of Santander (in the Netherlands with an office in Den Bosch, in Belgium from Merelbeke). Our Benelux team consists of approximately 250 colleagues. Together, we are part of the Santander Group, one of the largest financial institutions in the world.

What makes Santander different and unique?

We collaborate internally and externally with people of many different nationalities. Showing initiative is appreciated here, as is humor. We encourage creativity and brainstorm new ideas together. We have an open corporate culture with an informal working atmosphere.

We have an open office with various large and small meeting rooms and focus rooms if you need more privacy and quiet. We understand how important mobile working is. Work permitting, employees can work from home two or three days a week and stay in touch with colleagues and clients via MS Teams.

For nine years now, we have been receiving the Top Employer awards for the Netherlands, Belgium, and Europe.

The health and well-being of our professionals are a priority and a fundamental pillar of Santander's value proposition, which is communicated internally and globally under the name Behealthy. At Santander, we believe that the well-being of our employees is the key to creating a positive, dynamic, and innovative work environment. When people feel good, they have more energy, creativity, and engagement, thereby driving the success of the entire organization. In times of change and major challenges we face together, it is even more important to adopt healthy habits that help us prevent illness and maintain physical and mental balance. Our employees can take out a gym membership or make use of the bicycle plan through our FiscFree offer.

Our Evermood program offers a free platform for employees on various topics – from support in the form of tips on financial issues to advice on childcare and help resolving workplace conflicts.
