Your role and the team

For our newly established Santander Consumer Lease branch and JV activities in Merelbeke we are looking for someone who wants to become part of our team, who can support the organization in our growth ambitions. A self-starter who has guts and dares! An accurate, driven, and independent Senior Finance Professional, who can look ahead and is proactive.

We expect you to manage the local unit Financial Accounting within the set frameworks in a way that Santander's primary and secondary processes are supported timely, correctly, and efficiently.

The team can best be described as an enthusiastic group with a lot of diversity. Result-oriented work is important. Both as a team and on an individual level. You report directly to the Manager Financial Accounting. The Finance & Control team consists of ten colleagues and one Manager Financial Accounting.

Who are you?

You make an active contribution within financial accounting. You manage the entire Lease process, such as: Correctly, completely, and timely provide and manage financial data. This includes general ledger, debtors, creditors, subsystem connection, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, etc.

  • Correctly, completely, and timely provide internal and external financially related reports (such as CIT, VAT) and other financially related statistical reports.
  • Monthly management reporting for both the local management as well as the headquarters in Madrid.
  • Drawing up monthly and annual reports including the annual accounts according to Belgian GAAP.
  • Support on the forecasting and budgeting process.
  • Providing balance sheet and profit and loss data for the head office under IFRS.
  • Correct application of financial, financially related, tax regulations and laws.
  • Supporting internal and external audits as well as contributing to the preparation and execution of audit findings
  • You contribute to formulating the data requirements and making available the information required for the settlement of projects/activities.
  • You contribute to the improvement and creation of processes.
  • You will be part of the financial team which takes care of both consumer finance and operational lease business.

You have

  • Minimum 5-year experience in financial departments.
  • Minimum 3-year experience in operational lease business.
  • Relevant Belgium tax and legal knowledge, VAT, CIT, regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of Belgium GAAP, IFRS (plus), VAT and CIT (plus).
  • Knowledge of financial services.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI (plus)
  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English.
